My Story

Have you ever thought about this in your life as you are on your journey to lose weight?

First of all your weight didn’t come on overnight. It isn’t going to come off overnight either.

Losing weight is a lifetime process. Keto just is a way to help with the process.

In my first 2 years on keto, I lost 113 pounds.

Now I am on a plateau with a few pounds coming back. I know that I should go lower with my carbs and I would start to lose weight again. But it isn’t always about what you eat, it can be because of the stress last year and that also plays a part in my weight stall.

Also as a woman who is going through menopause, hormones will play in the changes your body will be going through. The thyroid is also a way the body will have a harder time burning fat. But the keto diet is a lifestyle I will stick with because I feel better than I have for years.

Keto is a diet that heals from the inside out. I know that if I eat something that has gluten in it, by mistake, eating out is hard sometimes because of some of the ingredients they add that you don’t know are in there, my migraines can kick in, and it’s not worth the pain.

KETO AND LEARNING TO BE KIND IS TO SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE

When losing weight, having a support group is very important. Or an accountability person to call when you feel the need to eat something that is not on your keto food plan.

Having someone to talk you out of eating that doughnut or listening to you is key.

I was alone for the first 2 years. It was a lonely journey. Then my sister moved in with me and we are doing this together. I love to cook but hate dishes. She hates to cook but she will do the dishes. We are a good team. We talk about our struggles together and we are there for each other.

There are many Facebook groups to get ideas from. I have helped and added recipes to my Facebook group and Instagram page. Feel free to join and there is always something new on my blog also.

KETO AND LEARNING TO STOP COMPARING YOURSELF WITH OTHERS.

This is a hard one. We all have different body compositions. How we will lose weight will be different. We all carry our weight differently too. Some women will drop their weight really fast.

Some of it will take longer. But it is okay we are all on our own journey.

Some will have to tweak their macros and add intermittent fasting. There are some women who can’t eat dairy. This has become me, and I have had to change my eating again. Keto is a constant change. This is why a journal is needed. So, you can look back to see what you have been eating and what to change.

There are women who can’t eat the keto treats from the store. The sugar alcohols make their insulin spike, which in turn stores fat.

Some women will gain from eating nuts. Nuts are high in calories so you must measure what you eat.

KETO AND LEARNING PROCESS

It is a process that you will have to learn. Step by step what your body needs to drop the weight. You may need to fix your sleep patterns. We lose weight during our sleep time. If you don’t get adequate sleep the weight will come off slower.

Stress is a big staller to weight loss. When we are stressed our bodies will make cortisol and it will store all foods as fat.

Drinking enough water is a big part of losing weight also.

Losing weight is a job. Your body will be changing and you will have to change your mindset too. Your moods will be all over the Place!

We are emotional eaters. When you don’t eat your emotions they will come to the surface and sometimes you will become grumpy.

Finding other ways to deal with your emotions other than eating will be critical.

We are all so hard on ourselves. We are so good at complimenting others and encouraging them, but when it comes to others complimenting us, we put ourselves down and are good at not treating ourselves as not very nice.

When we deal with our inner critic and give ourselves grace, we can gain confidence and face our fears in a new place.
